Learning Support SLA

The Learning Support Team provides a bespoke service to schools and settings to offer practical support, training and targeted strategies across all key stages to accelerate progress and remove barriers to learning for children and young people with a range of learning needs

Examples of support:

 

  • Assessment to identify strengths, barriers to learning and make recommendations:

    • Specialist diagnostic assessments
    • Cognitive assessments
    • Access arrangement
    • Monitoring and evaluation
       
  • Interventions to accelerate progress and remove barriers to learning:

    • Tailor-made programmes matched to pupil needs
    • Evidence-based specialist interventions
    • Modelling strategies and approaches
    • Targeted small group teaching
    • 1:1 Tuition
    • Evaluation of impact
       
  • Staff training to build capacity, including:

    • Literacy – e.g. phonics, handwriting, SPaG
    • Numeracy
    • Language and Communication
    • Dyslexia
    • ICT
    • Developmental Coordination Difficulties (Dyspraxia)
    • Differentiation and inclusion
       
  • Support:

    • SENCo support
    • Loan and trial of resources to support learners
    • Enabling schools to deliver Worcestershire’s local offer “Ordinarily Available”
    • Provision of updates on current legislation regarding SEND
    • Advice and support with the implementation of specialist pathways (Speech Language and Communication Needs, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia)
    • Signposting SENCo’s to appropriate sources of information and resources

  • Improved progress and attainment through identifying priority areas for development and providing recommendations tailored to individual need
