A range of training is available to enhance the capacity of schools to meet the needs of English as an Additional Language (EAL)  learners and includes:

  • Effective use of resources/ICT support
  • EAL friendly environment
  • Newly arrived EAL learners
  • Identifying EAL learners with SEND
  • Talk for writing for EAL learners
  • Emotional health and wellbeing of EAL  learners
  • Assessing EAL learners
  • Engaging and communicating with parents


Network meetings

The following courses/network meetings are currently available in central locations. Please contact the LST EAL team if you would like training delivered in your school or setting.

Termly opportunities for EAL coordinators and others keen to develop provision for EAL Learners to meet together and share good practice. The LST EAL Team will lead the focus on a particular topic each term

Our forthcoming (Autumn 2019 / Spring 2020) network meetings are currently being planned


  • Maintained Schools in Worcestershire can attend the EAL Network meetings FREE due to accessing de-delegated funding
  • Academies / Independent / Free Schools will be charged £40 plus VAT.
  • Early Years Settings who have purchased the EAL Service Level Agreement (SLA) are able to attend these meetings FREE, if they do not have an SLA they will be charged at £40 + VAT(£48 inc VAT)
