The LST English as an Additional Language (EAL) team are able to offer practical support and guidance to help schools to enhance the provision for pupils who have English as an additional language, thereby building the capacity of schools to meet the needs of this vulnerable group.

We have a range of bilingual dictionaries many of which are sound enabled that schools can borrow. We also have bilingual reading books that enable a child to hear a story in their first language or share a book with their parents. If there is a particular resource or language that you require please email or phone the team.

There are also resources available online. These include some bilingual teaching resources, guidance documents and sample letters that you can use to help with communication with parents and carers. There are also links to lesson plans with their associated teaching resources. New resources are being added regularly.
